Australia. The Mysterious Continent.
Sydney with its islands, beaches and .. opera house
When we started planning our trip, we first determined the possible dates for the trip. After that, we were looking for tickets for the first trip and for the last trip to Europe. For the first one, we had no hesitation about Qatar airways, we had membership cards for this company, but for the return we hesitated until we came across an offer for some unexpected Condor promotion - business class almost at economy. So we decided that our return trip would be from Rio to Frankfurt. Then we started with intercontinental flights. At first, we thought of staying a few days in Kuala Lumpur and from there to travel to New Zealand, but later it turned out to be an opportunity to go to Australia. So Kuala Lumpur was eliminated and we got tickets with Air Asia from Kathmandu to Sydney. The stay in Kuala Lumpur was 8 hours and we had no intention of spending the night there until Air Asia informed us that there was a change in flight times. Our stay increased to 20 hours, which put us in difficulty what to do. We found an unexpected solution in Capsule Transit Sleep Lounge KLIA T1 - Landside - a non-standard hotel for an overnight stay.
The reception staff speaks English and Malay. The nearest airport is Kuala Lumpur International Airport, a few steps from Capsule Transit Sleep Lounge KLIA T1 - Landside.
Add the Internet in addition and we realized that this is our place.
Kuala Lumpur Airport is superior in many respects to the airports of leading European destinations. As for Air Asia - by definition it is a low-cost company, but in my opinion it is superior to companies such as Lufthansa, Iberia or Austrian Airlines. It has nothing to do with the low level of Wizzair or Rayanair.
And now, after the imperceptible layover, we fly to Sydney. I fell asleep imperceptibly and when I woke up in the porthole, I saw how the plane from the ocean was entering some red earth. Australia
In Sydney, we chose a hotel with the strange name Maze. With a very high rating, the price per night is about 80 Australian dollars per room, relatively in the center. It was worrying that it had a shared bathroom, but there were no rooms with private bathrooms in the hotel. Upon our arrival, the surprise was complete. A hotel, if it is a hotel, looks like a large commune. Despite the fact that we are in a separate room, we are not allowed to have a side space, the door is not locked and we cannot leave personal belongings in the room. Even during my military service, I was entitled to a private bedside table. Here the lockers were in a separate room, locking at 11 pm. A great surprise, returning from the opera at 11:05 pm, to find out that we have to sleep in the formal clothes, the pajamas are locked. But at the expense of the tom, they gave away free meatballs. Of course, there is no question of free Internet. Such things exist only in backward Nepal. The shared bathroom was one on the floor for 200 people. Strangely, every time I visited it, it was almost empty. We accepted the conditions in the hotel with humor. After all, everything has its bad side, as the one whose mother-in-law died said and the agency asked for money for her funeral.
In the morning, Sydney greeted us with rain. Despite the rain, despite the wet streets, we were fascinated by this city.
After a short walk on Saturday, we headed to the port. A very pleasant surprise awaited us here. It turned out that for some reason on this day we can use the boats between the islands for free. Without having any idea of the city, we decided to experiment and travel on the principle of the First Come Ship.
Our first stop turned out to be a museum island. As you know, Australia is the place where the British Empire sent some of its most hardened criminals. The museum is on the site of the prison where those with the most serious offenses were imprisoned. You can walk around the island, look into the cells. After 1919, the prison was closed and the island was transferred to the shipyard. There are now remains of both on the island.
One of our most enjoyable stops was at the famous Sydney Opera House.
I couldn't hold back and we bought tickets for an evening concert at the opera. I can now boast that I have been to the Sydney Opera House
A fun encounter after we left the building. in the square between the opera house we saw aborigines presenting their art and music. Dressed only in loincloths, with painted faces, they offered their handmade items and CDs.
Later we spotted them, dressed in jeans and t-shirts, with washed out flashers, discussing some of their problems in a coffee shop.
Sydney is a beautiful city, with seascapes, historic buildings, but also with a highly developed business in the buildings rising to the sky.
We spent the evening on a night cruise on Sydney Harbor with dinner included. If you stop by, make sure to experience it.
The lights of the night city, the tranquility, and good food with good wine leave an unforgettable impression.
After so many impressions in the evening, we went back to our dormitory and quickly fell asleep waiting for the next day's adventures.
